You misunderstand. Rather than me getting a Cheapo solicitors free/charity donation Will, I'm investigating what's the benefit of a more expensive bespoke Will (possible Trust).

I'm completely happy to pay more for something special that leaves my family in a significantly better position than a 'standard' Will. I'm just trying to understand what more I get for the money?
As I said in my previous post your estates will not pay IHT so you do not need to consider trusts apart  an immediate post death interest trust. These sort of trusts are fairly standard ones and are unlikely to cost much more than will without one, although you would also be looking at a little more in converting your home ownership from joint tenants to tenants in common.

The advantage of making a will with a local solicitor is that you have a face to face meeting at which you point out what you want to achieve and the solicitor will draft out a will to fit those needs. At the same time they cover some possible eventualities that you may never have considered.
  • It seems that what you want to achieve is fairly standard, but you want it done properly. Go to your local solicitor, check they do wills, get their price, maybe do a comparison price check with another solicitor, then get the job done for.probably around £250.
