Savings account

Looking to put £50000 into an easy access savings account, but noticed some accounts that offer for example 5% interest, only do this on the first £5000 then it drops to 1.6% for example. I saw metro offering a good rate but was worried after seeing them in the newspaper recently, so not sure if there is a good savings account that would offer a good percentage on the whole amount? Appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Check out the savings accounts listed on here, there are quite a few paying 5% on almost unlimited amounts. I assume the one you saw was Barclays but there are plenty without limit.

Few have deposit restrictions. Anything with FSCS protection will be safe including Metro BankTry Moneyfacts1

For a part of £50K it's probably worth considering 60-90 days notice accounts as well, not only easy-access ones.1
