I shouldn't feel skint ...

Some great ideas for cooking ahead, and things to store in - thank you @satchmo1 and @MatyMoo ! I do use my freezer quite a bit but it tends to be for scratch ingredients - so frozen veg, chicken, prawns etc. I will experiment with some pre-cooked batch-mince this weekend coming.
I make my own bread and do freeze that. I'm not sure I save any money making my own, but I enjoy doing it (I have a couple of favourite no-knead recipes that always turn out a treat) at it's always much nicer than anything you can get in the supermarkets. Given all the coverage around UPFs I'm also happier knowing it doesn't contact anything other than flour, salt, yeast and water - plus any seeds or herbs I might throw in. I was a bit shocked when I looked at the ingredients list for some (not cheap) bread from Sainsburys recently...,
Any yes @Chrystal - £340 a month is not to be sneezed at (I will be giving up a chunk of holidays to do this - but I will also be able to go on holiday whenever I want rather than out of term time. Another saving... eventually!)1 -
It's been ages since I posted here, but thought I'd give an update. I am still plugging away and have maade a serious dent in my credit card debt now. All being well, I should be debt free (in terms of credit cards anyway) by July of next year. I'm really proud of the prgress I've made - some of the changes I've made have started to become really ingrained now.
Probably the thing that has made the most difference to me is setting up different savings pots for, eg., car expenses, Christams etc. Christmas 2024 is basically covered already which makes such a big difference to previous years. I will keep updating on here until I make the final payment on the cards - and I'll keep lurking too.

Well done @chemteacher78! I agree, pots are a game-changer. To have covered Christmas is impressive. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx0

If you are at the start of this journey, keep plugging away. It can be done.3 -
