Render cracks

We have hairline cracks in external wall of house. Only the one wall rendered; the rest brick. As the majority of the cracks emanate from edge of lintels, I think cracks are due to minute house movement over time against a very hard render.
Could anyone recommend a render mix/filler that is flexible and would accommodate small movements so cracks do not reappear in a year or so?

I've heard good things about Toupret exterior filler, although I've not used it myself.

I've tried a lots and toupret external even though it's not flexible works really well for this application. It's a little expensive but comes as powder and you can mix just enough to do the job and put a clipit on the bag.

Not the best time of year to be filling them though but it will work on a dry day but it sets slower in the cold.

If you fill cracks a little proud then go back after 1-4 hours you can lightly run a sponge over it to finish and avoid hardly any sanding.

Has the advantage of not grinning through paint like many fillers.

  • How big are the cracks? If they are just hairline, the use a flexible paints such as this https://www.promain.co.uk/extra-flex-masonry-paint.html
Our builder used the wrong sand for the render and scarpered once the hairline cracks appeared. It works really well as it flexes over the crack.
