Looking for a walk-in branch situation with a reasonable return. Is there a front runner here? I've tried to find info in Martin's savings advice but without luck. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place.

Don't bother with mse savings lists. Look on moneyfactscompare which is a much better comparison list1

Ok, I'll try that.

Doesn't the answer also depend on how close a branch is to you or which branches you can easily access?I suppose the other question is whether you want an accoun that is only branch based or an account that can be adminstered on the internet and in branch?1

Given how many locations will have no bank branches at all soon, a local building society may be the only option.

Is there a particular reason you want a walk in branch saver?0

Thanks for all the replies. Many of the points taken on board. I'm looking for an 'old school' branch account because as many people have come to realise, you can actually confront a human being if necessary. You can't confront an algorithm or an interminable wait, muzak-playing 'customer service' (as if) line.
A lower interest rate I can live with, at least within reasonable bounds.0 -

I'd suggest you try a small local building society.0 -
