Charged for medical excess 4 years after treatment?

Not sure if this is the right forum, please move if not.

I had some treatment on private medical insurance from an employer 4 years ago. I thought it was all covered but then I've just received an invoice asking for ~£100 to cover the excess. 

Am I obliged to pay it given how long ago it is from?

What did your policy say? Mine have always had a requirement to pay the first £100 of any claims in a calendar year.

They have 6 years I believe to claim that from you, so I would say it is likely you are obliged to pay it.

Yes, check your policy. If you do have a £100 excess you could ask them to waive it as a goodwill gesture given the length of time that has elapsed. Whether they will or not is another matter of course.

Law of limitations give them 6 years to get payment from you.

You may find that if you don't pay it they will take it from your employer who may have extra methods to get the money from you if you are still employed there
