question on old card security

As part of my gearing up for even more hard money saving, and also by way of decluttering financially for 2008, I have closed down three credit card accounts this afternoon. However, I am left with many statements, which although now competely out of date with the cards being cancelled and destroyed, I am concerned as to disposing of them. I don't have a fire or a shredder. Is it safe to just bin them now that they carry no current details other than my address, which is available through the electoral role?

Your advice and oppinions would be most welcome.

Why don't you burn them? Get a tin container and do it outside. Make sure your neighbours' washings are out or you'll be very unpopular!

lol, I'll bet!!

Seriously though, why not buy a shredder....you can get manual ones for under £10 I think.

Otherwise, I would definatly NOT just chuck them in the bin. If you must,then at least cut out your name & address and CC number and rip them up as well.
