House Insurance and body of water

Can I get some advice please?
I am completing a house insurance quote via a comparison site.
The question, I am sure must have been phrased differently in the past?
I am sure it used to ask if I lived within 400 meters of a water way and I always said no.
But now it asks if I live within 400 meters of a body of water?
I live within 50 meters of a village pond. We have lived here for 17 years and although it has seasonally swollen, it has not flooded any of the houses, some of which are much closer to us than we are.
Do I need to declare this?

You need to answer the question honestly. The fact the question has be re-phrased isn't really relevant.
Looks like you have to say yes.1 -
I feel your pain! We also have to answer yes. My house is within 400m of a small river. The road is even named such as to indicate a small stream nearby. The river floods fairly frequently onto the flood plain but it is essentially a valley so the water can not reach as high as our house (there was extensive flooding in the town some years ago which even hit the national news but the water didn’t even reach the houses the other side of the road between us and the river - just their gardens). We have been refused insurance by a couple of companies because of the ‘high risk’. Most use a bit of common sense and listen to explanations or check flood zones themselves as it is certainly a minority of companies who get concerned.1
