Hi I a Amex British Airways Credit Card - if I was to cancel this card how long would I have to wait to qualify as a 'new customer' and get the joining incentive again ?
I also have a Barclaycard Avios Credit card and wondered if I could cancel this too, to qualify for another incentive.

They keep expended it, presently it is 2 years but you may find in 2 years that it's gone up again.sparkiemalarkie said:Hi I a Amex British Airways Credit Card - if I was to cancel this card how long would I have to wait to qualify as a 'new customer' and get the joining incentive again ?1 -

For MR points it used to be 6 months and then went to 1 year and now 2 yearssparkiemalarkie said:

Further to the above - most Amex Credit Cards require you not to have held a personal Amex in your name in the last 2 years.
The two exceptions are:- BA PP - which requires you to have not held an Avios earning Amex card for 24 months (so you would be ineligible for 2 years from whenever you close this.
- The Platinum Card (not to be mistaken with Platinum Cashback range)- which requires that you have not held an MR earning card for 2 years.
If you decide to go fallow bear in mind:- Amex may change their policy again, and it'd be the policy at the time you next apply which mattered for a future SUB, not the one which in effect now.
- Because of the rules listed above, it's most effective if you take a Nectar, Marriott or any other non-Avis Amex first then get the BA PP card.
