There was no obvious explanation of the £20 spending threshold when I placed the order.

Why should I have to pay for Mountain Warehouse to put stock in their own stores?

Why was I not informed that the store could have ordered the item in for me for free?

Why should I have to chase customer services twice to get a response? If I had contacted customer services before ordering the product, I would have lost the promotional price on the hat.

So many questions... I'm amazed that you are content with such poor customer service.
Most likely they do not really want customers buying such small/low value items in this way, as it is expensive to organise the click and collect relative to the cost of the product. Therefore the £20 limit is there in the hope that you buy more stuff, and make the transaction actually profitable for them.

The moral of the story is read and understand the terms and conditions

I used Mountain warehouse a couple of weeks ango,  online I found what I wanted but I m not one to order online as I like to touch, feel and try on so I went to the store. The store was £30 more expensive so I went back and ordered online

The online didn't have the colour of one of the items but I ordered anyway, took that item to the store and switched for the colour I preferred at no extra cost

    I can't fault Mountain Warehouse

If everybody did this there would be far less Vent, Warnings and Consumer Rights threads.
I can't understand why people wouldn't do this.
