Plumbing Quote: Fair?

Hello oh knowledgable money savers I need the advice of some grown ups with experience of plumbing!

We are having major plumbing work done in our house consisting of a full central heating system and removal of old gas fires and heaters, moving of the kitchen plumbing from one floor to another and decommissioning of old system, and re plumbing of bathroom including moving the soil pipe. We have had a quote for around £3200 to £3500 for all the works and just wondered if there was anyone out there who could let me know if this seems reasonable. I didn't think it sounded too bad? Am I stupid?

We are having major problems just getting people to come and quote as they are all so busy so would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks to anyone who can help

Fluffymuffin xx

Any advice apreaicted

    Hello fluffymuffin

If that is labour and materials I would say that sounds quite reasonable. If it is just labour then plumbers charge between £200 and £250 per day.

    thank you.
don't be shy to ask the plumbers onsite questions you may have no matter how small they seem.

you need to clarify whether you are getting a combi boiler and its make. I had mine changed recently and went with Valliant (jaguar is from same stable)...these are generally the best around and cost between £500 and £700 alone.

make sure the boiler and heaters are corgi fitted and you get the certificate.

soil pipes should be PVC these days.

traditional radiators cost between £32 and £64 each. flashy designer ones start from £150.

no harm in asking for a reference from a satisfied customer for peace of mind.

    good luck!

Sounds reasonable. Have you tried getting 2-3 quotes from other plumbers to compare? I did a lot of my own stuff, and it cost over £1500 for parts, trade. No boiler included.
