Diversified Energy Company

I recall Diversified Energy Company PLC being recommended, unfortunately I didn't invest.

It's up 1,775% today, is that real? It looks like an ok share to me, is it still ok as an investment?

Freakish numbers like that usually send me to other data sources to try to find out what's happened, and it all looks rather different at, say, https://markets.ft.com/data/equities/tearsheet/summary?s=DEC:LSE

No, there's been a 1 for 20 share split. So it's gone from being c.60p per share to one worth c.£13. It was to do with preparing for an additional US listing,

"Due to NYSE requirements, prior to the US Listing taking place, the Company will effect a consolidation of the Company's existing ordinary share capital at a ratio of one new ordinary share of nominal value of £0.20 each for every twenty existing ordinary shares of nominal value of £0.01 each (the "Consolidation")."

On the investment side, no, not really. The market hates it but of you're feeling brave you can always bet against the market. It does continue to pay a big dividend but it attracts US withholding tax and when you buy the shares you have to pay UK 0.5% stamp duty, so the worst of both worlds.

I thought it might something like that, I looked on HL and Google and they both displayed the share in the same way, but in reality, they havn't increased in price.

A better website like TradingView knows all about it - note the orange 's' - and is displaying both the price correctly and has adjusted historical prices. I guess the others will get around to it.
