HSBC closing Advance account application

I applied for an Advance account to take advantage of the £205 incentive. HSBC asked for a bank statement 4 times as part of the process and despite receiving my statement twice (customer advisor advised not to respond to the 3rd request) they have now closed my application as their system indicates I did not respond to their request (3 customer advisors confirmed they received my bank statement).
Has this happened to anyone else? Is it a ploy not to pay out the incentive? This is  very poor management of their incentive scheme.

Comments

  • I doubt it is a ploy, it sounds more like an unfortunate mess-up on their end. You could consider complaining.

Lots of people have reported on this forum successfully receiving the £125 incentive, but I don't know how many had to provide statements to open the account. For me the process wasn't straightforward, but the account did eventually open and I completed the tasks on 23 November. I'm currently waiting patiently for the first reward.
  • My application has also been bogged down in some kind of mess-up. They have asked for and received bank statements three times now. My original application was made back on 25th October. If I ever do get approved then my first act will be to ask them to confirm that  I am still eligible for the offer.
