    20 mins a pound + 20 mins is the rule.............so, no, 4hrs doesn't sound right!

Jamie Oliver says 35 mins per kilo (or was that half a kilo)

    A kilo = 2.2lbs.

So 35 mins for 2.2lbs is undercooking it.

All these celebrity Chefs seem to go in for under cooked meat.

We prefer longer cooking at a lower temperature.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • According to food standards agncy.
A 7 kilo turkey should take 4 hours 5 mins on 180c or gas mark 4.

    7 kilo bird.

    35 mins x 7 kilos = 245 min (or 4 hours & 5 minutes).

    Does this not sound right?

    No.

    7 kg = 15.4lbs.

    15.4lbs x 20 mins = 308 minutes.

    Plus 20 minutes = 328 minutes.

Ergo, approx 5 and a half hours............NO LESS!!!!!

Perhaps you should tell Jamie Oliver hes got it all wrong:rolleyes:

And since the advent of "celebrity chefs" like Mr Oliver and Mr Ramsay, the incidence of food poisonings has increased by...........?

As someone else has pointed out, they prefer their food underdone because it retains moisture and therefore seems more "appetising".

  • Also, cook the turkey upside down. That way all the juices flow into the breast keeping it nice and moist. :)
