  • Also, cook the turkey upside down. That way all the juices flow into the breast keeping it nice and moist. :)
    Hark at him  :D

I don't know how much mine weighs.

I will have to think of ingenious ways of finding out. Nothing that involves finding out my own weight though :o

  • 14lb turkey crown!

I didn't realise it was that big - lucky we're eating late :)

It cost £30 ... was that a bargain?

My turkey was 8.6kg and it was in from 8.45am til 3.15pm
    thats 6hours 30mins.

I have always cooked the turkey on xmas eve as my mam always did.

I usually do the 20mins per lb +20

    Merry xmas everyone:rudolf:

yep, that's a 19lb bird cooked to perfection I reckon, how was it?

According to some posts on here, @ 35 mins a kilo that bird should have been cooked in just about 5 hrs, i.e 1 and a half hours less than your (or my) cooking time

No way would I risk eating a 19lb turkey that had cooked for such a short time.

Long and slow for me:rotfl: .........and my turkey/chicken:rotfl:

I keep the oven on low and cook it sloooooowly!

Only 3 of us this year so we had a chicken ,the wrapping said 1hr 40 mins............it got over 3 hours on a low heat covered in tinfoil with it removed for the last 30 mins.

It was very tender, tasty and juicy!

My brussels get more than 8 mins too! But not so long that they go mushy!

Well I should have read this thread before we cooked our first ever turkey!

It was a monster at 8.63 kg and it had a time on the packaging of 4 hrs 20 mins and it had those 'pop up' things inside that 'pop up' when it's cooked properly. Well I think it was slightly over done on one side and slightly under done on the other side and we cooked it for nearly 7 hours I think in the end. Did anyone cut the legs off before they cooked theirs?? (the turkeys legs I mean)?!
