Home insurance, public liability for the homeowner

Hi I am just after some general information if anyone can help.  if you have public liability on your home insurance and you are injured by a falling tree (that is in your garden) are you covered (can you claim) or is it only for other people?  thanks

  • I think i have found it: There is no cover for liability arising from: Pollution or contamination unless its caused by oil leaking from a fixed heating installation in your home. The death, bodily injury or illness of you or a member of your family or domestic employees

Public liability is exactly what it says on the tin - liability for claims from the public, not from the policy holder.

For public liability the insurer pays the money that the court awards the person that is suing you and your defence costs.

Do you think you can sue yourself?
