Unemployed and not on benefits. Advice please

Hello
I would like some advice please. I will not be returning to work after my maternity ends in the new year. I will be unemployed for the first time in my adult life.
I'm fortunate enough that I will not need to claim benefits whilst off of work.
However I wondered if I will need to make the government aware of this? Will I need to complete any paperwork yearly. How will this work?
Thank you in advance

If you are economically inactive then there is no need to inform the government unless you want to make voluntary NIC payments or such2

Shouldn't you be claiming something like child benefits in order to get credits for your NI for the year? I would have thought this was sensible even if your household earned too much to actually get paid anything.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. You could apply for contribution based JSA, think it pays out for 6 months and your assets are disregarded (I'm assuming you have sufficient assets so wouldn't qualify for any benefits, or your partners income disqualifies you)1

To claim New style JSA you would be expected to look for work. OP can use a benefits calculator to check entitlement to Universal Credit. If they live with a partner they will need to claim as a couple and entitlement will be based on thier joint circumstances. If they have capital of more than £16,000 they are excluded from claiming. https://www.entitledto.co.uk/benefits-calculator
