ParkMaven Ticket

Hi everyone,

Firstly, my apologies if any of what I am about to ask is already available information - I have tried my best to search but perhaps I have missed something.

I recently bought 16 hours of parking at Holiday Inn in London (and left 1.5 hours early). However, it seems I arrived at the space 53 seconds too early. I am now being pursued by debt collectors for £170 and threatened with court if I do not pay in the next couple days.

I have read enough to know that ParkMaven are a legitimate company, but this is extortionate and disproportional. I have also recently been made redundant and, whilst I can find this money, it will make a big dent in my savings.

Please, I am appealing for help here. I do not know what to do. I do not want to risk losing in court, but I cannot find any info on whether ParkMaven have even ever taken anyone to court before. ANy advice very welcome.

Thank you very much.

Have you read the newbies thread on here which has all the info you need including and most importantly plan A.
Plan A is your first approach which surely you have tried already, a complaint direct to the hotel that engaged these idiots in the first place.
You seem to have ignored their communications thus far if you are now at silly debt collectors letters, but you can ignore those as you don't have a debt only a speculative invoice.
As for being a "legitimate company" that's a matter for debate, they are a registered company yes but are unregulated in their operations, and sail very close to the wind.

You don't risk losing in court. Don't worry.  There is no risk here.as long as you don't move house without telling ParkMaven.

They have no valid cause of action and if they only have images of your car arriving in moving traffic, they can't even be heard to say that you actually 'parked' a few seconds too early!

This is ridiculous and you need to be confident. No Judge would give this the time of day.

I would formally complain to ParkMaven following their website Complaints Procedure, and then complain to the BPA.  And ask your constituency MP to support the complaints and write to ParkMaven and the BPA themselves (MPs do this all the time).

And include the landowner in the complaints. ParkMaven don't own the land.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
