Morning
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Still dark, much milder but now wet and lots of laying water, rain is forecast for the coming days.
Lunch yesterday was a roast chicken, chips, beans and some LO's that needed using up. I have meat and veg to go into ninja to slow cook for the day so we have warm casserole and dumplings for tonight's dinner and a portion left for DH to take to work for his lunch tomorrow - something warm in the middle of the day, helps with the cold when he works outside so much.
Back to work for me, at least my Saturdays are done now for a while.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning, thanks for starting NMLC
After a snowy weekend it's now raining, so I'll have to be careful when I go out. Rain on top of the snow and ice will be lethal.
Apart from a quick trip to the supermarket on foot yesterday we weren't out at all over the weekend, l had no bread and none in the freezer, so had to go out.
Hope everyone has a good day, be careful if you're going out.
Take care folks.11 -
Morning All
Not as cold this morning but still very chilly. The snow from overnight on Friday is still on the ground - apart from on my drive as I gritted it yesterday (and most of the road and pavement).
Washing all dried overnight and has been put away, I've a dark load to go on later once I get in from work. The hoover was given an outing and I looked out some decorations but haven't put them up yet as I've still no tree and yesterday was too cold to go and look for one!
Someone at work brought in some flavourings from a cook at home box so I made a very tasty risotto for dinner, there's enough for two lunches at work too.
Hope the little one is recovering snoozer.
What a lovely surprise for your OH Ruby, hope you have a wonderful time.
Gosh Gers, that's disgusting. Hope you get a replacement quickly.
Not sure I would be ok with watching surgery Coxy, good luck!
Right, off to the shower and work - it'll probably be freezing as there's no heating on over the weekend and it takes ages to warm up.
Have a good day, take care. XX11 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. No more snow overnight thank goodness and we have heavy rain forecast so that should see off some of the frozen snow. Middle DGD popped in for a bit yesterday and showed me a photo she had taken - some sort of leak or overflow and the pavement beneath for quite some way was frozen solid, ready to floor some unsuspecting person not watching where they were going. Ouch!
I don't normally trim up this early but if I cba lugging all the boxes downstairs I might put stuff up this afternoon. I don't go to the great pains I used to, just enough to cheer the place up a bit through these miserable days we are having.
RUBY what a lovely treat for your OH. SNOOZER I hope Esther soon picks up, poor little babe. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for our poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care all, be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hi everyone,
This must be a record, posting twice in two days. I'm sitting here with Esben, Laura is upstairs with Esther who has not been sick since yesterday morning! Steve is still in bed. We have to collect Brian from Luton airport about 11 so we'll take Esther and she can nap then.
Esben is pestering to open an advent calendar window so I've sent him to ask mummy if he can, I'm not taking responsibility for chocolate consumption before 8am.
I sorted through some toy boxes last night and found a missing toy that had been looked for in said boxes several times (including by me so I'm not absolving myself), I also found missing jigsaw pieces etc so my brain is feeling happier.
Better go and help Esben dress. Have a good day.11 -
Morning all
Very cold here and pouring with rain and it looks like we have a lot of rain coming in the next few weeks. I only have Rob today as the other lady has an appointment so we are going to his best friends house for a little Xmas party there will only be the four of us but Rob will love it we are doing a small buffet for lunch.
I cooked a roast beef yesterday the meat was delicious it was a joint from Lidl so I will get one again it was so tasty and tender, tonight will be left over roast beef and chips and peas.
I helped mum clear her lounge yesterday and then came home and packed what I think I will need, I am taking some walking boots but am in a dither about what other shoes to take, we do a lot of walking while there so I’m debating on trainers or another pair of boots for going out in the evening.
stay safe those of you with snow xx
Have good days all and take care xxx10 -
Morning all; bit damp here so far.
Yesterday's Care Home booking went extremely well. They enjoyed the music and dancing and then we were set some tables to join them for tea. They eat very well there, with a salad and cold meat buffet followed by cream cakes and mince pies. There was also wine and soft drinks. Apparently it's been voted one of the top 20 homes in the South of England.
Today we are meant to be walking with friends in Rickmansworth, followed by a pub lunch. The weather forecast says it will be drizzly all morning so I hope it's a short walk!
I now realise that I need to clean the oven, so will have to make time for that. When I switched it on I could see the door needed cleaning and, now I've looked properly, so does the inside. It's such a faff but DH will usually help and we can take the door off to clean the glass. I did try to book an oven cleaning person but he had no vacancies until next year!
Hope everyone's day goes well.

I've made it out of my cosy bed and downstairs getting ready for the painter to turn up, I'm not sure when but didn't want to be caught in my pjs. It's not quite as cold as the other day, perhaps we're up to a heady +1 just now.The dishwasher has done its stuff and been emptied, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits at the ready. I'll probably go out for a bit when he / they are here if I can as I've got rubbish to take to the tip and recycling to the Co-op, exciting stuff.Snoozer - good to hear that Esther is better.Ruby - where are you going? I seem to have missed that... and when? Taking walking boots sounds like somewhere not too cold.10

Morning everyone it’s starting to thaw here very wet underfoot NMLC I bet you are pleased Saturdays are over I’m pleased I don’t work weekends now I haven’t since lockdown but I worked them all my life until then don’t miss them not that I do anything else I’m pleased it’s slightly milder Saturday was unbearably for me I really struggle with the cold we had the log burner and the heating on all day it was -6 at some point I felt Ill at some point the joys of having a under active thyroid I think . I’m meeting my friend for a coffee and a catch up this morning I’m not at work until later we had some of the family for lunch yesterday then I sat and listened to my book on the afternoon while the hubby watched the football he’s not used to me doing nothing so he got my blessings when he kept asking me if we were having a cuppa and while your on your feet it’s about time he did a bit of running around it won’t hurt him. Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing10

Morning everyone
It's raining here and the snow seems to be washed away. I have soup to make and a I need to sort out the rest of the Christmas things I bought on Saturday - I think I just have one small gift to buy. I will be in town on Wednesday so I'll get it then.
We think little one really believed the Santa she saw yesterday was the real one - DD had asked why she was so quiet - 'I was concentrating mummy I wanted to remember everything he said to me.' She's at the perfect age this year and is loving all the Christmas activities at school. She sang me some of the Christmas songs from her play yesterday, but explained that it would be a lot better when she was wearing her halo and wings!
I had a nice chat with eldest DD in Nuremberg yesterday - she'd been to the Christmas market with her friends...she says it's very busy with tourists.
Pleased to hear Esther is better Snoozer - yuck to being sick on you though! We have a sicky bug doing its' rounds at the minute, I've avoided it so far.
Well I'd better get on, hope everyone has a good day x9 -
Morning all, it was raining heavily most of last night and it's now just damp outside but I don't think the rain is far away.
Dad did come over for the day yesterday as he wanted Mr Fix It to help him with his phone, but he went home a happy bunny with some leftovers.
Today Mr Fix It has to take Suzi Tank for her MOT, fingers crossed she'll pass meanwhile I'll do some pottering and then this afternoon we'll make a start of putting some xmas decs up which are ready in boxes in the spare bedroom, well that's the plan anyway. Firstly though I have to empty the DW and refill it.
I was sad to see that Glenys Kinnock has passed away, she taught me History or rather she tried, I was useless with dates and places, still am !
Snoozer I'm glad the Esther is a bit better.
Gers hope the painters come.
dp1 xmas is a wonderful time of year for little ones, it's so magical. Bet she'll look angelic in her wings and halo.
Enjoy your meet up with friends WL and Izzy.
RedRuby I hope the weather is favourable when you are walking, take care.
Take care if you have to go out, wrap up warm and stay upright !
nan xx
