I may have to give used/2nd hand chairs a miss unless i can get them delivered due to not having access to a car but i can still look at the links and see if rhere is some for delivery. As it’s also electric, I would want piece of mind that it is safe and with a guarentee and not one that someone could have tinkered with the motors.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Competitions Time, Shopping & Freebies boards, Employment, Jobseeking & Training boards If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. I live about about 35 miles from my Dad so would want to know the chair is ok for him.
I have looked at a couple of sellers on Ebay that do refurb/recon chairs with warranty but i will keep looking.1 -
Funnily enough I am getting a riser recliner delivered today
. My old one was more than 20 years old and it was getting very tatty (sorry late cats who loved leather) although the mechanism still works. I splashed out on a beautiful leather one hand made in Germany as I had been left some money and this one should see me out, I’m 71 now. I did a lot of research before buying one and bought it from a trusted local store.
£500 for a riser recliner is quite a small budget but you should be able to get something for that. There is a website called Feneticwellbeing and they sell a range of disability products. You can list the riser recliners and I found 2 within your budget ex VAT. You can get them free of VAT if the person has a disability. Funnily enough if you just buy the recliner you still have to pay the VAT.
I have not used this website myself but it is Which recommended and the products are made in the U.K.
If you decided to go down the 2nd hand route then try and find something from a charity shop. Everything electrical they sell will have been tested. They are unlikely to take something that is very old/tatty. Some of the large charities sell furniture at their bigger stores. We have a charity shop near us that is in an old Art Deco cinema and last time I looked they had at least a dozen recliner/riser recliner chairs at very good prices.Hopefully my experience has helped. Good luck with your search and if you think I could help further please let me know.0
