Hello. I've received a PCN for contravention 46 (stopped where prohibited on a red route or clearway). The location was Penistone Road, Sheffield, S6 2FL.

I have inserted a picture from Google Maps of the stretch of road in question. I was parked somewhere along the green line that I have marked on the photo.

I didn't see it at the time (it was at night time when I parked) but I've since spotted the 'End' of a No Stopping zone, so it probably means I was parked before the sign as opposed to after it (I wish I'd taken a photo but I didn't).

There were no red or yellow lines on the road. Is it not the case that a no stopping zone should have some sort of markings on the road?

Secondly, the location in question is a side road just off the main A61 (also called Penistone Rd) which is a busy road. I'm guessing the no stopping zone was for the main road but it had been continued into the first 50 yards or so of the side road. There is no sign making you aware that the side road continues to be a no stopping zone.

I had turned into the road as per the purple line on the 2nd image before parking on the left.

I feel really hard done by here. Thoughts?

I'm presuming this is a council issued parking ticket?

As we major on private parking tickets here, PePiPoo will be your best bet for council tickets. Register there but please note that a Hotmail address won't work - try using a throwaway Gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering, and post a new thread; here's your link:

Read the sticky 'Read this before you post' as well as reading through some of the other threads there ahead of posting your own details, to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate), as they need to see all the small print.

Yes, its council issued. Thanks, I actually tried registering on PePiPoo before I came to this site but had real trouble. I'll try again

That can often be associated with the email (provider) you are using to register. Hotmail definitely doesn't work, maybe Gmail is similar?
