I've made it into my clothes and downstairs, it's warmer than lying in bed as now my fingers aren't stone cold and more layers is good. The sun is shining in a bright blue sky but it's deceptive as there's no heat in it. I was hoping to go out but as everywhere I want to go it is far away I won't bother. So, no plans for the day.Yesterday my new jumper from M&S was delivered. It's soiled! There's a stain on the front of the collar, could be toothpaste? My first reaction was to put in for a return and refund and then I emailed M&S to complain. It seems that all customer services in M&S are suffering from lack of oversight. It's inexcusable that a returned and soiled article was sent out.Chrisca - I've never had breakfast in bed, I envisage it being quite tricky, I'm glad that you enjoy it. I only have coffee in bed on Sundays.TA - funnily enough I bought sausages yesterday, caramelised red onion ones. They'll be for later in the week as winter comfort food.Camelot - I saw photos of the snow in your area, it looked lovely but I know the chaos it can cause. Well done on heading out into it.Rosy - that's disappointing for you, perhaps it may all melt away in time. However, falling over in this weather would be really terrible for your DH.Coxy - well done on getting through your first week. These are always challenging, you start unsure then move into confidence and skill. Attending theatre is great, if you can not faint! My first real job after leaving school was training as a nurse (about 100 years ago!) and I loved theatre, found it fascinating. Perhaps you will too.Taff - thanks for the Christmas carol, it's a real cheery start to the day. Enjoy being on the sofa and don't move too much.Izzy - how lovely to have a son who can help with technology. Having access to free audio books is fab. I think that my library does it too though I haven't explored it yet. Have fun with it all.Second coffee of the day coming up. I will probably move all the pictures off the wall ready for the painter tomorrow, there again, it'll only take me five minutes so more probably I'll leave it to then.
I''m going to settle down to watch Double Indemnity which I recorded last week.

Hello all, it's pouring with rain here and a bit warmer at 3 degrees.
I had a great time with DD at the hairdressers, she's a friend of DD's who has a salon in an extension on her house so there was only the 3 of us were and there was good conversation and much laughter. We had to de-ice the car when we left at 5pm as it was absolutely freezing, then it was raining by 11pm.
Today Dad is coming over for lunch, I didn't think he would come because of the rain so maybe he wants something 🤔 I'm only doing chicken and chips with peas as I don't feel up to cooking much today.
Take care all, keep well and warm.

Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently11 -
Good Morning chums ,no snow here in north kent but blooming nippy and my car windscreen is still iced over since Thursday. Knitting a pair of blue denim looking trousers today for DGGDs Barbie dolls, that should keep me quiet then off to Dads late afternoon for Sunday dinner.
Batch cooked 8 portions of chicken curry in my slow cooked and once cold stacked them in my freezer. I didn't realise I had so much chicken in there. I shall do another batch next Saturday. So far day three of NSD foodwise for this month as I'm shopping from my cupboards and freezer as much as possible.I'm away for Christmas and New Year so I'm sure I will have a good bit left over from my December food budget at least .
keep warm and safe icy pavements are lethal ! ! !

@RedRuby1231 Ooooh how exciting. I remember going there many years ago and it poured with rain so none of the gondolas were going out, so disappointed. Enjoy yours! x@Gers it's normally only tea and toast so not a lot of juggling!9

Afternoon everyone
I didn't get on yesterday as little one was here. We went to a ballet production at our library yesterday afternoon - the jolly ghosts of Christmas. There were only 4 in it and at the end there was a dance workshop, which little one joined in with. I was quite surprised as the other children were older than her but she loved it. She found the ballet a little confusing - 'why aren't they talking?' so lots of explanation was needed afterwards!
We went to Costa for a hot chocolate, I bought little one a gingerbread snowman but when she tried to eat it it was rock hard! I complained and the young girl said, perhaps too honestly 'yes they're awful aren't they?' and gave me a refund for it.
Little one stayed last night - her alarm went off at 3 and then 4 this morning, when it woke me at 4 she was in my bed. Then she told me it was 7am when it was actually 6.07 - 'well there' a 7 in it granny!' so that was a bit of an argument then it was 7am so I put her Ipad on, then, about 2 seconds later, it was 8am.
We've been down to mam and dads this morning and then DD picked us up and we went to a lovely Santas grotto, where she did Christmas crafts after meeting Santa. She was very shy and spoke really quietly, which is quite unlike her.
I have a chicken to roast later and will do some roast veg too - DD doesn't want to come back out so I'll be eating chicken all week, which doesn't bother me. So a nice quiet afternoon with my Sunday Times for me.
Still just as cold outside - the snow hasn't melted at all.
Redruby I went to Venice years ago with my first husband and loved it....enjoy x

Hello everyone,
I know this is a late one but I don't seem able to carve out a minute at present. I should be sorting out the dining room so that I can reduce the table to fit the tree in. We usually have it in the living room but there isn't a place for it this year and with Esther around it probably wouldn't be safe.
Talking of Esther she has had some sort of sickness bug, it started on Friday night and I had the pleasant experience of her being sick all over my face and mouth, I was holding her while Laura changed the bed. I just had to break off to go and help because she's been sick again aargh. She was supposed to have a settle session at nursery tomorrow but that is not going to happen now, I'm sure she caught the sickness at one of the settle sessions last week.
Esben is being challenging because he's trying to get mummy's attention, which understandably is focussed on Esther and Daddy is in Glasgow, trying to sort out his mum's estate with his brothers, one of whom is being very difficult so I don't know what is going to happen. They are spending Christmas up there and this morning when Esben asked if we have a chimney (we don't) I said but you'll be at Uncle Michael's and he got very sad because he wants to be here for Christmas. We'll see them for New Year now though because the place they had booked to stay with friends has gone into administration so we are all going to go to the Yorkshire house.
I have bought one of the new slow cook Turkey roasts from M and S for tonight's dinner as a trial run, they look appealing but I want to make sure they are good before I commit to Christmas dinner. I'll report back if anyone is interested.
Esben is carrying around a huge stuffed venus flytrap from the JL advert, he got it for free yesterday when Laura bought some things there, he's also got a stuffed husky from the Lapland experience, all very nice but I'm wondering where we're going to put everything.
Sorry for the screed but I might not get chance again for a few days, Laura's about to take the kids to the christmas lights switch on so that will give me chance to get on a bit.
Hugs to the poorlies and anyone struggling with the cold and the pre-Christmas madness.
