These prices are as accurate as a Tory inflation rate calculation, and as useful as a chocolate teapot.
How exactly are they inaccurate? Please enlighten us!

I am with EDF E7 SV and I noticed a difference in my smart meter reading yesterday morning. I don’t break things down to a minute detail but did notice that the meter now reads in the morning what it used to read during the evening, so shows how much the rate went up. I’m not doing anything different with heating, water, cooking etc. Guess I’ll see if EDF will let me adjust my DD up online.  Knowing winter was coming and they had dropped my DD the first time I tried to leave it where it was, so I was in credit by a good amount, they would not let me. They did eventually allow me to adjust it once “winter” had started. If they’d left it where it was I’d be just over in credit now and my budget would not need to be adjusted to pay for this rise in off peak tariff.

Curious what people think are benefit or not for doing a fix?  I am being offered a one and three year option.  Not one to keep chopping and changing suppliers, despite being on a “money saving page”. I think I was on something that had a name like “Blueyonder” when I first moved in but have been on a SV for a lot of years now. Happy to hear if fixing would be of use, does it mean the standing charge has to stay the same rate as well or can that be put up even on a fix? £100 - £101 a month DD for one or three years does sound okay for my budget peace of mind at my age. I’d be 73 (with luck!) by the end of a three year fix.

That isn't your smart meter that's your in home display and whilst it sound like.it may be giving you correct figures do not rely upon it for accuracy for billing and budgeting purposes.

Obviously if you do mean the meter is reading more kWh used then that is just usage but I do think you are talking about the IHD and not the smart meter.

If you are going to fix, there are much better E7 fixes than EDF's out there. There's always the caveat of something going wrong as I've just found out switching from EDF to E.ON Next E7 Fix. I've somehow ended up on single rate and not E7 so now trying to get that sorted out which looks like it's going to take days and days.  Not great now we are about to enter another cold spell.

And on that note you should have read how shocking Eon are from this forum.

However if it helps once you raise a complaint they do normally take notice and sort it all out and sometime switch a goodwill gesture without having to got it he ombudsman.

Complaint raised and they are taking action. No complaints with the handling process from me so far. Day and Night opening meter reading photos were requested and have been emailed and passed on to another dept. And at least they have a freephone number and they answer the phone quickly. I'd hate to think what would have happened if it had gone wrong on a switch to Utility Warehouse.
