GRANTS
Hello, not sure if this is the right forum but here goes.
I recently retired and receive two occupational pensions about £21K pa. I am not state pension age and am not entitled to any benefits. I own my own house which needs a lot of renovation work. I dont have C/H or a boiler.
I have heard of grants for first time c/h and electrical rewiring but everywhere I have googled comes back you have to be on benefits
Are their any grants out their for people not on benefits.
Thanks

You may be eligible for ECO4, depending on you local authority. Mine has relaxed the benefit rule, so you just need to be below £31k income and have a poor EPC.1

You get one when you buy/rent a property. Otherwise, pay to get one done.0

You can check online if one exists. If one does it will have a date and give you a baseline.Brie said:

Edit I forgot to add - As an example ours was a B 8 years ago, under new regulations it might still be a B but could be a C. There are other hacks like looking up old energy usage which is a bit hit and miss but adds to the knowledge gathering not just for the OP but in general for.renters and potential purchasers.

It won't have a valid EPC if it hasn't been sold/let in the past 10 years, though.0

OP should bear in mind that ECO4 isn't a grant, exactly. If they qualify the scheme will send a surveyor out to visit, who will then draw up an improvement scheme which the householder chan choose to accept, or not.Netexporter said:You may be eligible for ECO4, depending on you local authority. Yes, but as it is free, if you accept, it is a grant (in kind).QrizB said:

I'm currently hoping for solar PV and a heat pump and maybe some more insulation. (all digits firmly crossed)1 -
When you retired did you receive a lump sum with either of those pensions? Not sure but I'd assume if you did, that the sum would be taken into consideration as "income".Barnsley, South Yorkshire

Yes I did receive lump sums and most of that will go on house as well. I thought if that would effect any application but can't find an answer online. Been putting it all off as worried about cowboy tradesmen.Alnat1 said:When you retired did you receive a lump sum with either of those pensions?
