To get funding and a place in supported housing you have to be extremely unwell physically or mentally.

You already live in supported housing and have a care package don't you?

Yes I get a full care package. 31 hours one-to-one a week and access to 24/7 shared hours between 5 other residents. I'm also on a community treatment order and under section 117 aftercare I don't have to self-fund. I also attend a NHS day centre 4 days a week.

I think me being in supported living will shield me from scrutiny from the DWP as (I think?) its hard to get a placement in supported living?? I go on holiday often with my staff and sometimes on my own. I have care plans in place for this and multidisciplinary team meetings with all my care team every time I go on holiday. I don't want people to think because I go away very often that I'm malingering and I would like to me left alone by the DWP from scrutiny. I have also been deemed I lack mental capacity with money so have a deputy at social services and he does all my savings thats why I can afford to travel so much, otherwise I wouldn't be able to.

Being in supported living has nothing to do with scrutiny by the DWP. They will look into any concerns that they have regardless of where someone lives.

However I believe your package is health, funded and nothing to do with social care, so difficulties getting support from social care is irrelevant to you.

And as you have a financial deputy, they would deal with that anyway and it’s their responsibility to make sure that everything is above board.

The level of support available in 'supported' accommodation varies widely, and can be quite minimal. You seem to have a larger package of support than anyone I know in such accommodation so you might struggle to find anywhere suitable.

  • On my disabled forums I go on there don't seem to be many people living in supported living I can relate too so was wonders if its hard to get into, plus also does social services think I have high needs to be offered supported living and funding.

Is this a question you should be asking of Social Services if they are your deputy?
  • They always lesson their views on what support I need as they want me to feel able. I get 31 hours funding a week, funding for NHS day centre 4 days a week. It’s a LD day centre. On a community treatment order and also I have a deputy. Does This make me high needs?

No because he’s health funded. And the deputy is probably a solicitor.
There are people with a lot higher needs than you in supported living - some who need 24 hour 1/1 support - and people with less support who maybe have a couple of hours a day.

The difference with others may that your support is to keep you from hospital readmission, as well as daily living help.
