Leaving British Gas - who to go to next??

Having had a bellyful of British Gas, I'm looking to move to a new supplier. There used to be something on here whereby you could compare  - seems to have gone now. I'm utterly in the dark. I just want out of British Gas.

After the utter travesty that passed for their 'customer service' it'd be great if the supplier I go with is better in this department. And, I know this might not down well, but is there ANY supplier where there's a possibility of speaking to someone who has English as a first language?? No disrespect to the well meaning people I've spoken to from BG but gosh, it's hard. Possibly for them too, I imagine.

I'm a relatively low user of both gas and electricity.

Any recommendations welcome.

I have been with Ocfopus since February and cannot fault them 

I cannot comment on customer services as I haven't had to use them and I don't think you can get better than that 

I live on my own and a low dual fuel user 

On MSE Octopus are highly recommended

I had a query recently and judging by others comments, it seems I was unlucky to get someone where English was not their first language, they've apparently taken on some agents from the other companies whose customers have been moved to them. However that didn't make any difference to getting my query resolved. No problem. As you can see they have a good reputation. What sort of Electricity tariff do you need. If it's E7 take a look at EDF's rates for your area. Do check out options using comparison tools/sites, I'd steer clear of BG for E7 as some seem to have problems.

I definitely recommend Octopus - the very best 'All rounder.'

I moved from BG to Octopus on 9th August 2021.

I still celebrate the aniversary every year..

My stress-related mental health problems ceased requiring medication.

It's looking like Octopus is the way forward! Still not looked into it yet (still stressed after BG fiasco) but hoping to start looking at it tomorrow. Thanks for all the info.

Looking at my BG online account makes me want to murder them. It bears no relation to the bill I finally received, after getting the ombudsman involved. In fact, that bill is nowhere to be found on the online account. Utter madness.
