Vanquis Fraud

in Credit cards
Hi,
I'm hoping to get some help. I've recently been a victim of identity theft where someone managed to conduct 2 credit checks and was able to open a credit card with Vanquis Bank with a limit of £1,200.
I had recently moved out and the account was registered at my old address. So any post sent was missed and i only noticed it 3 months after it happened when i checked my credit score and noticed it had dropped significantly (from 999 to 300 on experian). Another thing to note is that my last name is spelt incorrectly on this new account, so don't think any real identity checks were complete.
I immediately logged it with action fraud, experian and notified Vanquis of the crime. I hadn't heard anything for about a month despite Vanquis saying they were going to post something to my new address. So when i called up again, they said they cancelled the investigation because they didn't have a contact number for me (which they didn't ask for when i logged the fraud via phone).
They then reopened the investigation. After that i have received weekly texts saying they are investigating it but no real updates. We are 7 weeks on from when it was reopened and 10 from when i originally logged it with then and still no update.
I want to look to buy a house in the next year and am worried that if this isn't resolved soon i won't be able to do that.
I feel that the investigation process is never ending, is there anything i can do to speed up the process? or anything i can do to remove this from my credit rating

Is there a particular reason you did not put a mail delivery diversion on when you moved?0

Your credit rating is a made up figure that no lender see's.
But they will see these accounts, if showing on your credit file.
I would look at getting a protective CIFAS registration made. Ask Vanquis if they will pay for it given the time taken.
