Octopus Energy - Nightmare gettting Smart Meter fitted
Comments
-
Also waiting for a new smart meter - in my case because the old one is broken (still getting gas but the panel is dead). Been over a month now, huge backlog I gather (I live in Hampshire), and in my case I'd have thought I'm a priority as they said they have no idea how much I'm using and likely can only bill me the standing charge (albeit I'll believe that when its confirmed, mean time I'm trying to broadly track my usage)Peter

I had a smart meter fitted a couple of moths after requesting one , it never worked properly , 6 months later I am still waiting for a new one ! .All they keep saying is there aren't any in the warehouse . Prior to this debacle I gave regular monthly readings and knew where I stood , the only reason I decided to ask for a smart meter was because they told me i needed a new meter and they didn't fit the old type .Now I have no check on what they say I'm using but it has gone up , and yet I am not using anything extra0

Do you mean the smart meter itself which goes where the old meter was, or the In House Display (IHD) - the little remote gizmo you put in the kitchen or wherever that tells you how much your using? And what problem are you having? The meters themselves usually work fine as a "regular" meter you can take readings from just like you used to, even if they are not sending the readings in automatically like they're supposed to. Sometimes you have to press buttons on the smart meter to get the reading.Obviously frustrating and will be good to get it fixed properly, but in the meantime if you can give a bit more information about what the problem is someone here might be able to help you get readings so you can at least keep a check on what you're using whilst you're waiting.2
