Recommended solicitors for tenant/landlord disputes

Good afternoon all,
Our landlord is acting in a way that we believe is a breach of the agreement. The landlord is disputing. It has come to a point where would like to consult and speak to a solicitor for advice and how to proceed.
Could anyone recommend a solicitor (not very expensive) in England that deals with tenant/landlord issues please?
Many thanks.

Contact the Law Society or use their "find a solicitor" feature online - and then check the google reviews and similar to see what people who have used them for that area of law have to say.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Many solicitors will you upto 30 minutes of their time to discuss any legal problem you have. Their main focus during this time is to tell you how much they will cost if you choose to engage them to help with your problem, but many will confirm the legal situation and pass an onionon on whether you have a good case.
It would be wise to use a solicitor that has experience in housing matter. Have you spoken to Shelter yet? They might also be able to give you some advice. You might consider describing the situation here if you can do so in general terms - you need to bear in mind that this is a public forum and landlords can and do use the forum. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.1 -
You likely want a local solicitor. Suggest you 'phone several (say 9) and ask them do they specialise in such matters and represent tenants, plus what fees are. You'll learn quite a lot doing so. A visit to local court housing sessions might be valuable (and depressing...)
More work is done with landlords than tenants.
Can you give us hint of the areas at issue?
Your landlord may have some experience and training in LL/T law (but many don't). What do you know of LL/T law? btw in England there are over 100 laws and regulations that may be relevant. (Therefore very likely a few things not handled correctly...)
Shelter websites especially their free open to all Legal area are outstanding...
Best solution sometimes is to move, sadly
Good luck.
Artful: Landlord since 2000… still learning, still getting things wrong...(apologies to my tenants)1 -
What is it you feel they have breached? Why do they feel they have not breached the agreement?
Lots of LLs and tenants on here that might be able to give you a reasonable idea of whether you have a case before you incur any legal fees.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)4 -
So speak to Shelter or CAB or Crisis. Generation Rent or your local council housing office.
All will be cheaper than spending money on a solicitor4 -
