Shocked by the ongoing generosity of those who contribute to the food bank.  The local one is currently stocked with a couple of hundred bags that contain everything for a lovely Christmas dinner - stuffing, chocolates, mince tarts, gravy mix, bread sauce packets, crisps, cranberry sauce - basically every single thing that makes a holiday meal extra nice.  In a few weeks these will be distributed along with a bag of fruit and veg and a frozen turkey.  Just think how much it costs to feed a family of 4 or more on Christmas day and multiply that by 200 or 300!!  And then multiply that by the 6 foodbanks in our organisation.  And then multiply that by all the other similar organisations in the country.   Makes me embarrassed now every time I find I'm wasteful with food or foolish with money - I think overall seeing others willingness to give is helping make me a better person.

Shocked too at the need for food banks and those who give ridiculous things like half used packets of stale pasta but that's another story or two....

I keep seeing social media  posts about people paying for McDonald’s for the people behind them in the queue.

I do always wonder why this only ever  happens at fast food restaurants which I never use, and ponder why no one has ever offered to pay my petrol for me at a service station, in a similar vein.

It could be a case of not being in the right place at the right time

Or could be you don't look as you need any help

I walked into a small village store last week and the was a mother and 3 little girls, looked like triplets about 3 years old

They were gazing at the sweet racks, one had a packet of crisps, they didn't look well off

I gave each of them a one pound coin because I could yet I'm not rich

The look on their faces and the mother was priceless

It's not really money saving but it brings a smile to faces.

When I leave work on Fridays I pop into the local supermarket and buy a bunch of flowers. Nothing massive, just your £3.99 or thereabouts. Then I drive home and look for some random lady to give them to. I just stop the car, get out and hand them over. It always gets a smile.

I have had all kinds of responses from Why? to which I say 'Just because' to one lady who burst into tears and asked me how I  knew she was having a bad day.

One lady asked my name and I just said 'Oooh, I couldn't possibly tell you that'.

Once in a while I see a post on the local neighbourhood page on Facebook about this strange lady who gave my mother flowers/stopped while I was gardening and handed me flowers/stopped as I was walking the dog etc, etc.

I just smile to myself when that happens so its a win-win.

My comment was intended to be tongue in cheek.
Although not sure that queueing up in your car at Mackie D is a real indication of people who need help?

Hmmm, so why remove my comment, again ?
I have a view - just as all the previous posters have.
Nothing rude or offensive about it.
I choose to do mine anonymously as i feel narcissistic doing it publicly.
