That's true, if the perpetrators find out about these posts then they might be emboldened and make more posts. Although the posts about me are a few years old now, and hopefully now they've found more productive ways to pass their time by now.

I think for now i'm going to just let it sit, and wait to see if it actually causes me some problems when it comes to employment. The saga has made me rather paranoid about the whole thing, maybe i'm overthinking

I have a relative who shall we say in his naïve youth joined some vary dubious political groups that took a lot of hammering at the time due to their less than inclusive policies and he did a lot of public videos of support. This was a fair few years he's grown up a lot, is at management grade in a very inclusive oriented industry and yes, you will find these videos floating around youtube still if you care to look. These could come back to haunt him if someone had the motivation, and he;d have a tall order to get them down as they've been copied, reuploaded etc - he's no control over it.  Be careful what you post.

The particulars of these posts that have been allegedly written by myself, are consistent with myself: age, place of birth, nationality, physical features etc. So anyone who is prepared to delve into these posts a bit will likely be convinced it's me, though that is proof of nothing of course. If I get a new job and my name is on the website for example, and someone digs enough, then that company will surely be getting phone calls about me, just like with one of these other associates.

Like I said, with Instagram it has been much easier, I report the posts for defamation and they are taken down.

If it is not true then there would be no sensible reason not to explicitly say so here. Avoiding saying whether you did, or did not, reasonably suggests that you did write them. There is no defamation if the allegations are substantially true.

This is getting beyond ridiculous. It is very important as your rights and options are very different if you are being maliciously impersonated than if you yourself have posted comments you now regret!

If you wrote the posts, then you have to own them. 

People can and do have careers effected by what they write on the net,  this has been the course for some time.

I don't consider simply refuting authorship as very professional and as an employer I'd see that as worse indicator of character than most ill-worded posts. 

I don't personally think you've much to worry about, but at the end of the day if you put it out there...as said above it's simply not defamation if you are just being found out about something you actually did. That's actually your true character they're seeing.
