CARD PROTECTION PLAN ADVICE

in Credit cards
Hello. I am trying to take out a policy that covers me for all cards like credit cards, debit cards, store cards, & everything else if they get lost or stolen. Many years ago I used Sentinel, we were happy with them, but there was some controversy although I see they are still in business. My friend recommended CPP. All looked good on their website so I called them, only to be told they only offer this to existing customers & have stopped selling this policy since 2012. I tried emailing them to clarify & got the same response.
However when you look on their website there is NOTHING to say only for existing customers, not NEW ones which I think is misleading.
Yes I do have cover on my home insurance for cards lost or stolen outside the home, but I don't want the hassle to write it all down & call individually, just 1 phone call to cancel & stop them. There must be other companies who offer this.
I also don't do online banking so prefer to call & speak to someone first.
Any advice please.
Thanks.
Heather

Are you sure?
I'm not aware of any - I thought the whole sector collapsed.2 -
CPP and others stopped selling products because the products were essentially worthless particularly since banks are now liable provided you are not negligent
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just write down contact numbers for banks & do it for free... This is MSE after all... 👌
These companies were a waste of time.Life in the slow lane1 -

These companies were a waste of time.Must admit that's what I do. Many many years ago I lost my wallet, and the hardest part was trying to remember what was in it - credit cards, debit cards, driving licence, library card, loyalty cards, etc. etc. After that I just kept it all written down in a little notebook (yes, this was in the days before smartphones and affordable home PCs !) - just a note of each bit of plastic I had in there, the card number and the "emergency" phone number. Takes 10 or 15 minutes to do, but then you've got everything in one place. Should the worst happen, it's then very easy to ring each one in turn, cancel the card and ask for a replacement.

Pretty much every physical card I now have has an option in by mobile banking app to deactivate the card in full or for different features.
If I lost the cards or had them stolen, they could be blocked in minutes without any phone calls to anyone. I can also report them lost / stolen in the apps as well.1 -

Thanks for your responses. I don't do online banking so when we used Sentinel in the past it worked. My friend has had CPP for many years without problems. I prefer 1 phone call to report problems. May otherwise need to keep a note of all the plastic nrs but a bit more inconvenient.
Does Martin read this & could advise>0 -

Absolutely worthless product. Why waste money?0

I'm still with Sentinel after decades. At least once I have had to report cards missing. At least twice I have had keys returned in the post because they have a tag registered with Sentinel. Once I nearly started a process to replace a lost car key, but then it turned up in the post because it was on my wife's keyring with a Sentinel tag. It costs £30 per year, paid 3 yearly, covers my wife and me. A small price for a useful insurance policy.0
