Apple Genius Bar ?

Hi guys, I posted for advice on here last week, and was given good advice to make appointment at Genius Bar Apple.
my ipad has an intermittent fault, for a few months now,and  I have two months to run on warrantee .
The home button plays up, not letting me log on, three days this last time, then, bingo, no problems since.
however, I ‘ve made an appointment and rescheduled it as it was ok, but, It’s done it many times before like this, don’t want to keep re- scheduling it, don’t know how many times they allow it ?
my decision is do I take it in to Apple shop, this Friday, when it’s ok, hoping they can replicate the fault, or keep re scheduling hoping it will do it, and I try to get to the shop when it’s playing up.?
I think it’s the home button, but doubt they will just change it when it’s working ok .
I’ve never used Apple shop before , so no idea how they operate !
methinks they will want to keep it, try replicating fault, might never do it, then do nothing .
I don’t want to run out of warrantee, then pay to change the button.
i would appreciate any advice how Genius Bar operates, so I can make an informed choice what to do.
cheers.

Yes take it to the Apple Store and explain the situation, they will do a thorough diagnostic check to find the cause of the problem
  • Thanks again Mike, will take it in Friday.
    cheers

When you get to the Apple Store a team member will log you in and ask you to wait and show you where to wait

Don't be surprised if your appointment runs over time, they are usually very busy and the  Genius Guys/Girls are in high demand

Just be patient and explain fully the problem, you don't need to mention it's still under warranty they already know that.

    Good luck
  • Thanks Mike.
    much appreciated.

Replicating the fault is more of a nice to have than a must have. Ultimately they have diagnostic software that will read all the logs on your device which will have captured any hardware or software errors
  • Thanks D, much appreciated.
I wondered how they could/ would diagnose any fault, you cannot speak to the shop direct for advice, tried twice !
that has given me a bit of encouragement.👍
should have taken it in this morning.
    live miles away from shop.
    trains cancelled!
    looks like next week now.

  • It may help if you can video the fault on your phone when it next happens so you can show them exactly what happens (providing it re-occurs before your appointment!).

Trust Apple they will sort it

I have only have experience with  the Highcross store in Leicester and I can't fault them

Once with an iPhone that had a faulty speaker, they swapped it for another in a box sealed

last time was with my Macbook I had bricked it and they fixed that, took about 2 hours on diagnostics but it was fixed
  • Thanks guys, it’s working fine since the last session ! That’s how it’s been for months.
no warning , just decides to play up.
technology , good when it works !
really only need it for banking.
    Sod’s Law.
    booked for Wednesday.
    see what happens.
I only have I- pad, no smart phone, bit old for them.
still use my trusty nokia 1100.
    not a phone lover 😴
