Please somebody educate me on my Grammar here (Placement of a Question mark in middle of sentence)

Late to the party but I'd go with the first suggestion to split up the sentence into two. If you wanted one sentence, always put the question mark at the end. But add a comma after 'because'. And yes you can start a sentence with 'because'! (My background is languages and linguistics degree, teaching English as a foreign language, working at Plain English Campaign, and now offering plain English editing and training among other things.)
