OnePlus Nord 2 - Cannot set Nova Launcher as the default

Hi

I've got the above phone and the built in stock launcher/home screen doesn't suit me,  so I use Nova Launcher and have done for a decade.






Even though I set it as default using the phone's setting and also confirm this via Nova Launcher, the phone will keep on jumping into the OnePlus launcher so I have to manually change it, sometimes a dozen times a day.

It's not possible to simply uninstall the stock launcher.

Any advice on what could be causing this?  Never had it happen on any previous phones.

I haven't tried other launchers on my nord but on a previous phone check default apps...> Home app. You may have already tried this just an idea.

Maybe try it with a different Launcher, see if it sticks.
To determine whether problem is caused by phone or app.

Thanks.  If I'm honest I'm a creature of comfort!  I can only use the Nova Launcher and nothing else.  Looks I might just have to put up with the issues
