I’ve found most supermarket mince pies this year a bit disappointing.  The best ones Ive had are M & S.  The worst ones by far were Mr Kipling.  I’ve got some home made mincemeat from last year (unopened) so will be making my own for Christmas.

I had to do a bulk buy for church. Mini mince pies were requested but they all seemed to advertise themselves as very boozy, which wasn't appropriate. I bought Lidl's and didn't hear any complaints.

I was going to get gluten free from the Coop, but they went up from £2 to £2.25 overnight! For 4.

Mr T's g/f pies are also vegan, and they do chocolate Christmas Tree biscuits in the same range. No idea how they taste.

The Coop Merry Mince Pies are Vegan and relatively inexpensive. Will taste later and report back.

Would not recommend. Very soft Pastry, and not as much flavour as others we've tried. But OK if that's what you need.

Also note that Mr T's 'Merry' mince pies are NOT vegan. Very confusing to have the same description.

These are a bit pastry-heavy, but do survive being bitten iron without deteriorating into pieces.

I had an m&s mince pie cookie today - heavenly! £1 for one and worth it (but only once a year)

Tescos Finest All Butter Mince Pies were delicious - and they don't contain palm oil or any weird stuff.
Unfortunately I only got my hands on a couple of boxes because they were so popular that there was no stock left by a week before christmas.

Other types still stocked up on Christmas Eve so I wasn't the only one

So I tried the All Butter with rum......but the pastry was too thick and they tasted ok but slightly odd, not like mincemeat. I wouldn't buy them again.

In the past I found Co Op low fat ones the tastiest, light and clean tasting - I rarely buy anything low fat but think they were reduced when I sampled and went back for more. Been choosing them for the last 2yrs but they weren't in our store this year.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

My local was showing low stock on Tuesday evening but full up Wednesday morning

  • Aldi had run out on Christmas Eve - so bought the top version from Sainsurys instead. They are big and heavy, but taste good.
