So far I have had Lidl Deluxe bought at £1.49 (offer price) and were nice but TESCO Finest, bought at £1.50 (offer price) had the edge over Lidl.  I'll work my way round the other supermarkets, as they put them on offer.
  • Definetely Tesco finest. Must have bought 10 boxes while they were on offer, down to last 4!

Asda are the cheapest at the moment, £1.09 per box.
I would love to do a taste test and buy from all the different stores. They are all very nice

    The cheaper ones are soggy-tasting.

I think my lifelong love of mince pies is over - chiefly driven by how expensive the decent ones are.

If they are anything like the Tesco ones at that price they will be awful.  I agree on the Tesco Finest though, only managed one box on the offer :'(

Gd H/keep have voted Icylands all butter ones as best this year. Website shows they are £2.50 for 6.

I find they are just right, not too much filling.

But the baked in store ones are nice too. Someone posted a photo, I believe of Morrisons baked in store, underneath the pastry appeared undercooked. They can sometimes look like that.

  • I have tried the following over the last 5-6 weeks all 6 packs and all £2.50 or under.

2 varieties from Iceland the bog standard and the luxury ones.

Lidl 12 pack and deluxe ones.

    Gregg's mince pies.

Sainsburys mince pies and their taste the difference (all butter brandy infused) mince pies. Also tried a 4 pack variety they bake off in store.

My own personal preference of which are best are as follows.
    1. Gregg's.
    2. Sainsburys taste the difference.
    3. Sainsburys normal ones (green packaging)
    4. Sainsburys (4 pack ones)
    5. Lidl deluxe.
    6. Lidl 12 pack one's.
7/8th place both Iceland's varieties.. for me these were that bad I almost binned them, but I don't like waste and took em into work for people to scoff in the canteen.

I want to try Morrison's and Tesco varieties... More so Tesco brandy ones, but I no rush as I've kinda had enough of the things for this year now.
