Selling Probate House.

Hello,

It is getting to the point where I can sell the house. There is no will and the estate is getting split between the benefices. I am the administrator and as so I have the power to sell the house for the market value. Is there any document I need to send to the other benefices to tell them I am selling the house / when the offer has been accepted. I can remember reading something about a "Notice of sale" but cant seem to find it any more.

Any advice would be great, thank you.

  • No, if you have letters of administration then you have the authority to go ahead and sell. It would be nice to keep the beneficiaries advised of progress. You should also consult them if you find you are only getting offers below the probate valuation before accepting one.
