Worth trying to appeal an APCOA Parking penalty?

chunkybuns said:I'm angry and frustrated because in my opinion they are intentionally making the app not work resulting in increased profits. The law needs to change to make cash payment mandatorily available before an app based payment system can be allowed. I took a photograph of the number as I left a gig but the app kept advising it wasn't recognised. Then received a charge after it. They argued that you can call, but who has the time to wait 45mins on hold???
Then, once I appealed, they automatically advise its rejected and blackmail you that if you go through the independent process its automatically £100.
The whole thing stinks of extortion, but its the UK, so we just tolerate it and the government do F*** all about it.
It's alright moaning, but have you actually done anything to get things put right?
I would suggest that you could at least let your Member of Parliament know your thoughts.
You are not alone.1 -
That sounds like a bad call by them, chunkbuns. To be 'fair' to this company, the initial error here was mine, for the reasons in my first post.I was therefore relieved - and impressed - when I found I could sign up online and pay the following day, with no penalty. When I returned the following day, again with 83-year old mil who I was pushing in a chair, I actually made the conscious decision to use the online payment after I got home as, again, it was getting dark. But it never appeared on their system. I kept checking, I guess for at least a week, but nothing. No reply to my appeal yet...0

The Government is actually doing loads about it. I'm on the DLUHC Steering Group and we are nearly there with robust regulation.
Coming in 2024. The DLUHC tried in 2022 but were blocked by the greedy moneymakers with 2 Judicial Reviews. Nearly there now.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
