Order price of the item is $110. I am not able to work out the postage price because they do not show it at checkout until after paying it seems.

Going for memory though from a few years ago, as I have been looking at this for a long time on and off, it was maybe $50 so lets use that.

How might I expect to pay total to get it to the UK?

I do rather want it so $50-100 more I would find acceptable.

It is a very rare ergonomic keyboard and yes of course I looked everywhere for other solutions. This is the one I want. This is the only place I can find it. They have a reseller in france but they refuse to ship to UK due to brexit.

    USD$160 = £126

As its under £135 they should be charging you the 20% UK VAT up front and there would be nothing to pay on landing

Worst case would be 2.5% simple duty then 20% on total landed cost inc the duty and an admin fee from the courier of circa £15

Double check with HMRC's figures to do the conversation, both on the date of sale and if possible the likely month it would get here, if it's not going to be within the same month.  (I can't remember how far ahead they publish them, but it's not a very long time.)

Double check they will actually post to the UK and that they don't want more than the items worth to post it.

I wanted a small tool and spotted several stores with it on sale for $50/$60.  Most would not post
to the UK and the ones that did wanted more than the cost of the item.  Postage can be stupidly expensive
    when buying from the USA.

I have been in extensive discussion with them over email and was told it will cost $70 for shipping. Certainly a pretty penny but this should last for years and I will be willing to pay that. I would have been willing to pay a total of $180 and free postage for instance for the keyboard. That is getting towards my limit of acceptability though.

180 dollars takes you over £135, so there will be a clearance fee payable as it enters the UK.  This depends on the carrier, but could be something between £8 and £15 as well as the VAT and possibly duty.

Not too bad. Have since ordered, they gave me a 33% discount just because they were feeling nice I guess so might take me back under. I later realized I could really benefit from a skin for the keyboard to prevent water spills and dust and such so it will even out if I pay another £30 odd just for that :p:D
