PA1P - Permanent address of deceased. Nursing home or previous address?

I will be applying for probate using the online portal. Would be very grateful for advice on completing the question asking for the deceased's permanent address. My father died two weeks ago in a nursing home where he had been for the previous two months. Prior to living in the nursing home he had been in hospital for 6 weeks and before then he had lived alone in his own flat for 12 years. What do I put down as the permanent address? I rang the telephone help line and the operator seemed uncertain but after an uncomfortable pause said care home. I am not convinced this is right. I cannot see any guidance notes on this question so any help is appreciated.

Did he still own his flat when he died eventhough he’d not been there for a while? If so, I would have thought that is the address you should be using especially if that is the address for all his correspondence etc.1

Yes dad still owned his flat and my instinct would be to put this address. Was expecting helpline to confirm this but am unnerved by the operators reply that the nursing home address should be used.0

Yes - it's his previous address based on my own experience (my father also passed away in a care home but kept his flat which formed part of his Estate).1

Thank you both for confirming what I suspected. Much appreciated.0

It's not that bizarre a suggestion given that often in such circumstances there is no expectation of a return home. I don't think it matters greatly though.Mungoteamwork12 said:Yes dad still owned his flat and my instinct would be to put this address.
