  • Haha, you guys  :)

Really, I couldn't have done this build without MSE... and more specifically, without the pair of you!

I have actually thought about entering the world of woodworking / carpentry. It's really quite intriguing. I'm a graphic designer, so sit behind a computer for 8 hours a day every day – quite the opposite end of the spectrum!

Is carpentry still in huge demand? Even in the world of the keen DIYers?

I would imagine there would be a strong and steady demand for such bespoke units - understairs cupboards, alcove units like you've built, bookcases. All of these look best - often only 'right' - when fully bespoke.

It's quite incredible what a bespoke unit can do, actually. It's not just about something that's aesthetic, but fitting the space so perfectly it what really counts, I think.

Numerous areas in our house, where we've got pre-built furniture like drawers, bedside tables, etc... I'm always thinking "Damn, I wish that were 5cm less"... which would have made all the difference!  :D
