Royal Mail

Looking for some help and advice, I ordered a ipad from Very it was reported as delivered by roil mail signed for on the 4th November i was in work at the time, The picture left by royal mail was just a street not my door and there was no parcel in the picture. The signature was just a line not a signature, I checked with my neighbour's who sometimes takes parcels and they hadn't taken any. we live on a main street so leaving it on the door step isn't an option.
I called royal mail on the 5th to report it missing they told me that they would investigate and let me know within 48 hours. I called them back after 48 hours to be told 72 hours to investigate and then 10 days after. I again called back for an update and was told that the investigation wasn't complete but there was a note on the system that the post man had posted it through my door, which he had not. even if he had which he did not the ipad would have broken as we have a concrete floor in the porch and further more it was a signed for parcel for a reason.
I then disputed this claim and i have been calling them ever since i was told that there is no time limit on a claim and they keep fobbing me off.
I contacted the seller who are doing there own investigation into the lost item,

What else can i do, the item is a Christmas gift and i cant really afford to go and spend another few hundred pounds.

I'm writing a letter to royal mail later today so any advice or legal information would be appreciated.

Thanks

I guess the standard view would be that you hold the contract with Very, not Royal Mail of whom is acting as their agent, so it really is Very's problem rather than yours. While that sounds simple enough, you can expect Very to argue (as retailers often do) that the tracking says delivered. Fortunately for you, it sounds like it's relatively easy to prove you didn't receive it.

Since you're speaking to them, have you asked Royal Mail for the GPS co-ordinates of the delivery? Hopefully this should enable you to pinpoint where the parcel is/was.

Could you describe the picture a bit more? I appreciate you say it was not your door, but it is hard to believe it would be a panoramic shot of a street. Presumably it is of the parcel placed somewhere?

I wouldn't bother writing a letter, unless it was a LBA and even if it was, it wouldn't go to Royal Mail as you hold no contract with them. You ordered the item from Very, Very is responsible for the delivery though of course you can expect them to insist you to work with Royal Mail to try find it first.

Have you even told Very you never received the item? From your OP, it sounds like it's been a few weeks.

Its for the person that sent it to you to resolve it with Royal Mail, let them deal with it as its them who the contract would be with for delivery.

Sorry, I guess I just find it incredulous a courier would take a landscape shot of a street, without even including the parcel.

Not doubting the OP, you get some whacky couriers, especially with agency workers during the festive period.
