To fix energy or have variable tariff?

hello. I am completely lost. Should I choose a fixed tariff for my gas and electricity bills or go on a variable tariff??

Moving into new property soon and want the most money saving option!

Many thanks 🙏🏼

  • As I haven't a crystal ball all I can do is guess, and it would be variable atm, but watch out Middle East to see if it escalates.

Rates change all the time so keep your eye on the energy boards but wait till you get there then ask again
  • if you are moving, you will start with the incumbent supplied in the new  house, but I may be wrong

As above, to save any issues, find the incumbent supplier and open an account on the Standard Variable tariff with them.

Make sure take readings on moving day and if you can agree those with the previous bill payer to save any dispute, dated photographs are a good idea.

Then take a deep breath and see what is available, the fixes available to me as an EDF customer are hardly any different to the SV tariff.

You can sign up in advance and have the start date on the day you move in, or you move a current tariff over if this is allowed.
