@badger09 exactly the same as us, i've also tried getting prices all ways with other packaged bank accounts, standalone annual travel policies etc., all were considerably more expensive even allowing for the add on's from N/W, and of course didn't include the other insurances. When we both turn 75 we may have to consider stopping travelling abroad at all, but not yet!2

I like the look of Nationwide FlexPlus. They have a £200 switch deal and I have a Lloyds Bank Account I barely use. The deal requires two active direct debits on the account that you switch from online and close. I've changed two of my monthly charity DDs over to the Lloyds accounts but they won't take the first amount till late December.
I do have an email from each Charity confirming the DD against the Lloyds Account.
Ideally I'd apply for FlexPlus right now, just in case there are any issues with health cover.....our existing Staysure insurance expires 6th December and I wouldn't want to let it lapse without knowing we have been fully accepted onto the new scheme.
Any idea where I might stand with the switch deal and my 2 direct debits that aren't being taken from Lloyds for the first time till late December?0 -
Mark_d said:I've previously had a Nationwide FlexPlus account to provide travel insurance and breakdown cover for my partner and I. I discovered that the service level I received from the breakdown provider was poor - and this was due to their contract with Nationwide. Needing travel insurance cover for medical conditions also required an additional premium, and even so the policy didn't cover the sporting activities I would have liked.
I now prefer to choose current account provider, travel insurance provider and breakdown provider separately so that I can ensure quality of service and value for money from each. Maybe it's worth looking in to Starling bank, StartRescue breakdown cover, and AllClear travel insurance.
Was this before or after Nationwide switched to AA cover (about 2 years ago)? Nationwide's package breakdown insurance is more comprehensive than most as it includes onward travel.

You can switch up to 60 days in the future, so just book it for early January. So long as the mandates are live on your account you should be golden but why risk it if there's an option to just delay it a bit and be certain?

@harz99 Husband was 76 this year & we renewed after his birthday. No noticeable increase in premium. So far we’ve had 3 weeks in Greece, closely followed by a 34 night cruise around storm Agnes & several others which followed🤢 & we’re off to Sweden on Thursday. No intention of stopping travelling just because of a number!1
