Just wondering if anyone has bought the Complete Savings gift cards (via SVM) on a HSBC credit card and whether it was charged as cash?

I normally use Barclaycard and Aqua and these both categorise it as a regular purchase.

    Thanks in advance

Anyone had any luck asking card companies what MCC was provided (e.g. can we ask Aqua/BC/etc.), so that you could check with HSBC?  I reckon they should include it on statements - let's face it, many T&Cs now refer to 'em!

I use Tesco credit card for most purchases to get their points and then go via TopCashback for cashback for various purchase including gift cards for coffee outlets and have been doing this for many years with no charges. Last month however I got a cash transaction fee for buying a card (TopCashback => thegiftcardshop => cafe nero.) and, of course, cumulative daily interest. I contact them
to ask why and was told that they, Tesco credit card, have been working with merchants to ensure they were using the right transaction codes when processing cards. However, trawling back through emails, I found one that said Tesco was moving their credit card business to Barclays. I suspect that this has driven the change

Strange though - I & at least one other here use barclaycard without issue.  What may be more likely is that topgiftcards changed their supplier (happened a few months back).

Seems it was late last year - 4th October was Runa Network Limited & 5th November it was TILLO (and has been since, with some options gone & I'm sure lower rates 😔).

I am lucky to have a debit card that gives 1% cashback - alas Complete Savings refuse to accept it.

I have yet to find a voucher-selling merchant Santander Edge CC doesn't treat as a purchase and grant cashback for. It's the main reason I've decided to keep it beyond the SUB promotional rate expiration.
