Good morning, it's very cold and frosty here, but dry.
We arrived home late yesterday afternoon after a long journey from the South west, where we visited Dh's elder brother.
We've had a great time away, now for the serious business of preparing to go to Australia.
I'm going for a hearing test this morning and will do some shopping while I'm out.
Hope everyone is ok and has a good day.
Take care folks.

Morning folks and welcome back SCARLET. It's good to hear you had a lovely time away. It's a cold and frosty morning here too and forecast to remain so for the foreseeable.
SNOOZER I hope Esben endured his jobs. Poor little soldier. COXY I hope your last day wasn't too emotional and good luck for Monday, all change day. And ((HUGS)) for you and RUBY with your sad thoughts over your nephews. Upsetting times.
My trip to Planet Dance proved as expensive as I had feared! Both for DD with the pointe shoes, which seem to have shot up in price since the last ones, and me with the Italian designer dance wear! It didn't bode well when nothing had a price tag on!! There was a sale rail but, of course, nothing on there appealed. After much trying on and deliberating they finally chose the leotards and matching short skirts they liked. So their main presents sorted. Sadly not a very MSE day! Anyway I am now on the winning side with my Xmas stash, just a gift card for eldest DGD and a couple more stocking fillers for the menfolk and I am sorted.
I was planning a trip down town to get my final items this morning but this cold weather is tempting me to stay where it's warm. So it's the usual Saturday morning of dithering. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and poorly loved ones. Take care all and be safe. xx

Morning all and thanks for the start @ScarletRibbons - I'm glad to hear you had a nice break and a safe journey home x
My last day at work was as frantic as I feared with no-one to hand over to. Boss received a long email with many attachments just before 5pm - not my issue now thankfully. I received an e-greetings card plus a very generous JL giftcard. Boss forgot to contribute to either as nobody reminded her (ie. me) but she's asked for my address, so I expect something will arrive next week.
I'm off to a quilting exhibition this morning which promises cake and a good raffle. What's not to like?! I will go by train and stop off en route home at the large shopping town to get some more bits for the C word. You did well at the dancewear shop @TravellingAbuela - great to get the DGDs useful and longed for items.
I've ordered a food shop to come mid-morning - managed to get £21.53 off the total due to incentive voucher and a price match. DH will put that all away. We are seeing Napoleon this afternoon - went for the 4pm showing as it's another long film. I'm finding I can't stay awake much in the evenings anymore.
Tomorrow we are off to Canterbury for the C Market. Will take Mum and DS1 and his pup are meeting us there. DIL2B is going to buy the C tree with her Mum. Lunch is on the cards and I'm very much looking forward to a mulled wine!
Hope you all have a good day and hugs to those in need.

Hi everyone,
Esben was a trouper over the jabs apparently, even though one had to be given very slowly. Hopefully that was the immunoglobulin and he won't need that one again. He's got to have another three of the actual vaccine in the next few weeks though.
I lost most of yesterday to a migraine but managed to make Esther's birthday cake before I went to bed. it just needs icing now. Chris and Crystal are coming over and we're all going out to lunch so that will be fun and I won't have too cook tonight.
TA, I wish I had all my presents sorted although I made good progress yesterday, just Brian, Chris and Crystal to sort out now.
Have a good day.12 -
Outside is very frosty, the fields are white and the low clouds are grey. It's like a white out, the horizon is 'gone'. And it's still 0° here with not much change forecasted.Yesterday, in contrast, was a gloriously clear, crisp and bright day so I decided to go down to Glasgow for some shopping. It was mostly unnecessary but I really enjoyed the drive there and back. I didn't hang around though I did a wee detour to Waitrose to get something I could t get anywhere else. During lockdown and beyond I went there regularly and got acquainted with a few of the staff there, only a couple are still there so it was lovely to see them and chat to again. One of the women is on the welcome desk so we had a bit longer to chat. I had taken a bunch of flowers to pay for there and she did the 'have it on us' thing, so got them free. It was so kind of her and really cheered my spirit.Today I only have to do a quick trip into town for one item but may well put it off as my car is still thick with frost which probably won't melt too soon.Coxy - I'm glad that you had a good send off despite your boss! You have a lovely weekend on the cards before the funeral and then new job.Scarlet - Christmas in the sun with family is perfect. Do you know the Tim Michin song 'White wine in the sun'?TA - ouch!Snoozer - what a wee trooper Esben was. Children do confound us sometimes.Bella - talking of trooper, I watched the Kings Guard programme yesterday but, of course, couldn't identify your DSIL. I remember the sight of all those military personnel going on the train and then marching through London, such an impressive time.Time to prise myself out of bed properly, my earlier trip to the bathroom took me back under the duvet again. Tonight is both Dr Who and Strictly though, of course Dr Who will be watched twice. 😀12

Morning all. We had a light frost last night but the sun is out now.
Played lots of tunes last night out in the cold; had a couple of fingers go numb at one point. Coming home up the M1 the gritter lorries were out in force and then same to be repeated again today. although this time at 4pm in Tring. We have our own Christmas Lights switch on today. I always used to be involved on Playgroup/Beavers etc stall when the children were little but not any more.
@bellabella; was your SIL the one at the end, in the blue/grey beret? I do enjoy those sort of programmes and sometimes wonder if I'd have liked life in the Military.
Tonight we'll have a Thai takeaway as I'm not sure what time I'll be back. Looking forward to it!
Happy Saturday everyone.12 -
Morning all
Cold and frosty here too and not meant to get above 6 all day, at least there is no rain.
The gas men cut off the gas at 10 yesterday so we had no hot water or cooking facilities, it eventually got put back on at 6.40 last night thank goodness that we have the log burner otherwise we would have been shivering ! I did have a really funny moment with one of the men, I am still laughing now about it, he came in to do one last job and I was in the kitchen and he shouted out I’m finished now bye love you 😂😂😂 and I automatically went to say it back but managed to stop myself, I bet he was so embarrassed when he realised what he said 😂😂
I want to pop into town today as I saw a pair of boots in M&S that I would like to try on they were fur lined and looked very good for winter, I can also get a few more stocking fillers. I did not sort the presents so that’s a job for today and start wrapping.DD is off out tonight to celebrate her Birthday which is next Tuesday so just OH and I here for dinner. I’m hoping OH will cut the grass today as it’s a bit straggly that will be the last one till spring then.
Coxy glad your last day went well xx
Have good days all and take care xx10 -
Hello it's brrr here this morning but the sun is out so that's a bonus. I've put the heating on as I was shivering and I've already got 3 layers on.
Yesterday the craft stuff didn't get put away as I opted to watch "the hobbit, battle of the 5 armies" which was about 3 hrs long but I really enjoyed it. Today I must get it put away and not procrastinate.
This morning I have done a load in the wm but I think it'll freeze if I hang it out so indoor drying it will have to be. Tea today will be a beef casserole, something warming.
Scarlet welcome back after your trip.
Right better shift myself and make a start on something before I get too comfy.
Take care all, stay warm and safe,
nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10 -
Got myself out of bed, washed and dressed. Exercises done too. Then I stripped the bed and remade it with fresh linen, that warmed me up! It's now all in the WM.I found some bird poo in the bathroom and on a clean towel in the spare room this morning, not much so one must have flown in yesterday when I had the door open and then found the way out again. It's lucky it didn't come into the living room as it would have been flying around and pooing for ages. Last time that happened I had to have two neighbours in to encourage it out.The sun is beginning to shine from behind the still thick white cloud. My car is always parked facing east to catch the morning rays so I'll leave it another hour. The windscreen heater is very efficient in the cold, I'm not!Ruby - that would have made me laugh too.Wicked - that's some dedication.Second coffee coming up now.10
