I have a 2017 Apple iPad Pro 10.5 screen which I’ve had from new. I’ve always kept it in a tough case when in use (which doesnt have a screen protector) and when not it use kept it in a padded case whilst still in the tough case. It was in pristine condition.

I loaned it to a friend to help with an online course. Sadly the screen got damaged whilst my friend had it and it was never kept in the padded case whilst not in use!!

i now have it back and whilst it can still be used there are noticeable cracks on the screen. Having obtained quotes it will cost around £249 for a replacement screen.

My now former friend states I should claim from my insurance but surely as it was out of my possession it should be them that pays for the repair.

Suggestions and advice please.

Your friend should be claiming off their insurance as they broke it. But may find that given the cost & age that they will simply offer a small amount instead.
Failing that friend stumps up. They broke it, they pay.
