Land registry legal aid charge against property

Hi all,
I have posted here before regarding my late mother's estate and leasehold house issues.
That is now coming to an end but I have now been made aware of a charge against the property which was due to legal aid being used when my mother divorced my father.
I do not have the funds to repay this, at least in full.
Does this debt pass to me? Is there anything I can do about this?
Many thanks

The @Land_Registry representative may be able to help, it's likely that they'll need more information from you in a direct message. What is going to happen to the house, is it being sold and the proceeds distributed to beneficiaries or are you intending to move in and live there?0

Thank you for your reply.
I am the only next of kin. I was still living at home when she passed so I have stayed here ever since.
Many thanks0 -
The debt does not pass to you it belongs to the estate, and should be settled with the sale of the property which is something the solicitor dealing with the sale can deal with.
If you are planning to live there rather than sell then you will to clear the debt with the transfer to your name so you may need a mortgage to do that.0 -
It’s really a legal Q re the deceased’s estate and how her debts are dealt with. That’s not a Q HMLR can help with I’m afraidSiliconChip said:The @Land_Registry representative may be able to help, it's likely that they'll need more information from you in a direct message. What is going to happen to the house, is it being sold and the proceeds distributed to beneficiaries or are you intending to move in and live there?“Official Company Representative
