Will plasterers put light fittings back after boarding ceiling?

Hello all. We had a plasterer (3 x people) plaster our walls and ceiling in our hall, stairs and landing. There is a pendant light fitting on the top and bottom of the stairs.

The plasterers have finished (and done a great job) but the pendant lights are hanging down unattached to the ceiling by their wires. They havent mentioned this - I am going to ask if they are going to come back and reaffix the lights when the plaster has dried. Is this a normal request or do they expect me to refit the lights?

Thanks!

  • My plasterers didn't, they expect you to do it - but it's an easy job to do
  • You may wish to wait until it's been painted too.

Ask the painters to screw the light fixtures back.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Should have been removed by a electrican and differently be re fixed by a electrian to check that none of the wires have become loose

I think they should be fixed the same as they were - unless you meant definitely!

I'm not sure you can screw the light fitting straight back on because the plaster would still be wet.  And I wouldn't really expect the plasterer to make a special journey back another day to screw it on.  Besides which, I would prefer to both seal and paint underneath the light fitting (rather than around it) anyway.
